September 2026 Update

Fall is almost here in the Shoals!

September is one of my favorite times of year in North Alabama. School is back in full swing, Friday night lights are shining again, college football has returned, and before long we’ll finally start getting a little relief from the summer heat.

It’s also a great time of year to slow down for a few minutes and make sure the things you’ve worked hard for are properly protected.

Greetings! I’m Britt Blanton, an Alabama State Licensed State Farm Insurance Agent right here in Killen. I opened my agency in 2012, and for more than a decade my team and I have had the opportunity to help families and businesses throughout Killen, Florence, Green Hill, Lexington, St. Florian, and communities across the Shoals and Alabama.

Growing up in the South, I watched my father operate a small business and learned early that taking care of people, keeping your word, and building relationships matter. Those lessons have shaped the way I run my agency today.

At the Britt Blanton Agency, we don't believe insurance should simply be about selling someone a policy. We want to understand what you own, who depends on you, what you're trying to accomplish, and where you may have risks you haven't considered. Then we can help you make informed decisions about your coverage.

That could mean reviewing your auto insurance after adding a vehicle or a new driver, making sure your homeowners insurance keeps pace with changes to your home, protecting a boat, ATV or other recreational vehicle, or helping a small-business owner protect what they've worked years to build.

September is also Life Insurance Awareness Month, which makes this a particularly good time to have a conversation about protecting the people who depend on you. Life insurance isn't a conversation about expecting something bad to happen. It's about having a plan in place so the people you love have financial protection if life doesn't go according to plan.

If you already have life insurance, this can also be a good time to review it. Families change, incomes change, houses change and children grow up. Coverage that made sense several years ago may not necessarily match where you are today.

Our team takes pride in being accessible and responsive. We want our customers to know there are real people right here in Killen they can call, text or stop by and see when they have a question. I'm especially proud that so many of our customers describe our agency as taking the time to explain their options and treating them like family.

Whether you're looking for auto, homeowners, renters, life, small-business, boat, ATV, pet or other insurance coverage, we'd be glad to sit down with you, learn about your situation and help you explore your options.

And if you're already part of our agency family, thank you. Your referrals, reviews, conversations in the grocery store, waves across town and continued business mean more to us than you probably realize.

Here's to a great September, a safe football season, and hopefully some cooler North Alabama weather soon!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What's an effective way to get car insurance quotes?

A: You can get car insurance quotes online, by phone, or with a local agent by sharing details about your vehicle, driving history, and coverage needs. Connect with Britt for insurance guidance in Killen.

Q: How quickly can car insurance coverage start?

A: In some cases, car insurance coverage can begin the same day you purchase a policy. The timing may vary depending on your situation. We can help you get coverage quickly when you need it. In Killen, you can count on Britt for personalized service.

Q: What are the insurance requirements on a leased car?

A: If you're leasing a vehicle, the requirements are usually a bit higher than standard coverage. In most cases, you'll need liability, comprehensive, and collision coverage, and the leasing company may need to be listed on your policy. We're always happy to walk you through exactly what's needed. Britt is here to help your Killen household feel covered.

Q: How does life insurance work?

A: Life insurance provides a payout to your chosen beneficiaries if you pass away while the policy is active. It can help give your loved ones financial support when they may need it most. Looking for coverage? Talk with Britt about your options in Killen.

Q: Do you need to carry insurance on your home?

A: Whether homeowners insurance is required depends on your situation and may vary by state. If you have home financing, your lender will likely require it. Even if it's not required, many people choose to have coverage to help protect their home and everything that comes with it. For personalized coverage in Killen, AL, reach out to Britt.

Q: What exactly is renters insurance and how does it work?

A: Renters insurance is a policy designed to help protect your personal belongings and provide liability coverage while you're renting a home or apartment. It focuses on your possessions and potential risks, rather than the building itself, which is typically covered by your landlord's policy. Britt is proud to serve the Killen community.
